The most interesting thing to do in Sofia is a trip to the highest peak of the Vitosha massif – Czrny Wierch.
The view of the Vitosha massif accompanied us all the time in Sofia. We decided to take the gondola lift and continue to the top on foot. We planned to return on foot through the Vitosha Protected Landscape Area.
The cable car with three intermediate stations took us efficiently to the upper station. We then went on foot along an easy and picturesque trail to the top. It was steep towards the end.
The weather was favorable, the views were amazing and there were a lot of people on the trail.
We didn't make it down to the city. The walk turned out to be longer than we thought. Before the marathon it was already too much for us. We took the chairlift down (with adventures) to the gondola station and then follow the familiar route to the city.
