3rd Half Marathon along Red Oak Avenue

We visited Wieruszów once again this year,
this time to stand at the start of the 3rd Half Marathon along the Avenue of Red Oaks in memory of Henryk Kaczorowski.

There was only one goal: to reach the finish line, which was not so obvious for two reasons:
1. The day before we ruined our legs at the Road Classic – Ještěd.
2. It was hot and dry, the temperature was reaching 29 degrees in the shade.
I knew the route, which is not flat and easy and I didn't know what to expect from my body. My legs were tired, energy level was zero and I was very afraid of overheating in such conditions. I was a bit behind and didn't push the pace from the beginning.

The sun was hot, fortunately in the main attraction – There was some shade on Aleja Dębów Czerwonych. Na pierwszych 4 km I thought, that I will die, I won't finish and I'll leave the route. About 10 km I knew, that I'll get there somehow, although I was struggling with myself all the time.

The water points were in the same places,as last year. I must admit, that I was looking out for the first and second, because I was very thirsty. Then I somehow got used to it. It was on the route 8 supporter points, the commitment and support was huge – the loud noise irritated me. The last kilometers were very long for me, I crossed the finish line exhausted and exhausted, but happy. I didn't really believe it myself, that I will run 21 km.

Traditionally, in Wieruszów we were treated to sour rye soup and grilled sausage. The organization, as usual, was very good, everyone is trying to make a good competition. We didn't wait for the official results, we wanted to get home quickly and finally rest.
