Belgium – love it and have been so many times, but I never seriously considered running a marathon there. For a moment I was thinking about running in Brussels, but when I found out about the beer marathon in Liège, I knew, it's only a matter of time until we get there.
42 km i 16 stations with beer from local craft breweries, and Belgian fries, local treats – buns, cookies, sausage. All topped with pop corn, because the theme of the run this year was film.
The two Medoc marathons we ran gave us an idea, what can we expect, yet the reality surprised us…
The start/finish and packet collection was in one place. In a large hall surrounded by Oscars and cinematic atmosphere, we got a starting number, belt and cup (it was mandatory to use it while running), hat and high “Hazel” socks.
The organizers have also prepared quite a surprise – DeLorean DMC-12 from Back to the Future. I was very glad, because I like this movie and the car.
The marathon was interesting.
