The island city-state has fascinated us for a long time, especially the megalithic temples, the oldest standing buildings, a marathon run in this place was only a matter of time…
We saved the mysterious megaliths for dessert, i.e. after running.
On the Saturday before the race, we picked up the packages and were able to explore part of the island.
Extremely rich, as times go, packages with a T-shirt and a very functional Nike you/bag were issued in a sports store.

Malta was kind to us and welcomed us with beautiful weather and pleasant warmth,
which wasn't so obvious, because the last Malta Marathon was canceled due to a strong storm, wind and precipitation.
The island surprised me, or rather its difficult to classify culture, language and monuments. A strange mix of Italian influences, Greek and Arabic, but all together gives a clearly separate Malta.
I definitely miss trees and forests on the island, the buildings are tightly packed in the ubiquitous sand color.
We used well-organized bus transport. I would definitely recommend the island to “marathon trip”.
