I am “foliarą”, I appreciate and use NRC foil a lot.

– sometimes even “silver side” outside!
In mountain runs I always start with the NRC foil in my backpack / running vest, is it listed as a mandatory accessory, or not. Regardless of the season, circumstances – is it a competition, or training I always have a thermal blanket in my running backpack for my own and others' safety.
Marathons constitute a separate category. I take the foil to the marathon run everywhere, where i know, that I will be waiting for the start. Its job is to isolate and in my case this function works perfectly – it provides me with thermal comfort and is windproof. Sometimes it also protects against rain and getting wet.

Na Marathon des Alpes-Maritimes Nice-Cannes, where there was an exceptional situation and a long wait, because it was not known whether the race would take place, most of the runners looked at us with envy. Only we had foil.
The NRC foil is a must in the backpack for all adventure races. Even those in warm and very warm regions, because you can always use the silver side.
The funniest thing was the foil walk in the middle of the night through the villages of Ko Samui. Dogs barked or howled and people looked at us as if we were two aliens – I'm not surprised, we were walking, rustling, silver on top, we looked as if we had just come out of the saucer (after all, it was created for NASA). I suspect, that most of the passing Thai people have never seen NRC foil in their life.
Longer walks to start – as we are used to (5-10 km) in the middle of the night we also beat in foil, because lightly, comfortable and warm. You don't have to worry about a deposit and you can “heat” in the foil right to the start, and a moment before him, throw it into the trash. It was a tradition to use it in Disneyland® Paris in a customized version with a Mouse distributed by the organizer.
I am surprised, that few runners use in such a non-medical way “life-saving blanket”, garbage bags are more popular. The foil never failed me before and after the race, always provided thermal comfort and I only hope, that I will never have to use it for the purpose for which it was intended.
